Cardiac rehabilitation
Cardiac rehabilitation is a secondary prevention program of exercise, education, support, risk factor assessment and management for people who have some form of heart disease.Â
If you have been referred to cardiac rehabilitation, you may have experienced any of the following:Â
- âŻheart attackÂ
- âŻanginaÂ
- percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI with or without stent)Â
- coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)Â
- valvular heart surgeryÂ
- heart failure/cardiomyopathyÂ
- pacemaker/implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD), Â
- and/or cardiac transplantation.âŻâŻÂ
Currently, our cardiac rehabilitation program offers an in-person cardiac rehabilitation program and a home-based program. In-person cardiac rehabilitation operates from Memorial Universityâs Field House. Â
Our home-based program operates on a hybrid model including telephone and virtual visits with the option of in-person visits. Â
Our team consists of a nurse coordinator, physiotherapist, physiotherapy assistant and a medical doctor.
